Silent Night, Yeah Right

Sharing is caring!

Silent Night is my favorite Christmas song.  I learned to play it on the piano when I was younger.  I can probably still play it by heart.  Who knew being a mom that there is no silence anymore?

Silent Night, Yeah Right

Between my family and my parents, it’s never really quiet.  My dad never turns off the tv.  My mom starts talking from the moment she sees me until she leaves for the day and starts talking again as soon as she is home.  My husband, the night owl, loves to chat at 2 am when he finally comes to bed.  And my son who talks a mile a minute, screams, sings and carries on until the moment he finally goes to bed so he can talk in his sleep.

Even now as I’m writing and everyone else is asleep the tv is still on.  The infomercial is about pots and pans with the only pots and pans you could ever need.

Silence is so precise.

But it’s so hard to find anymore.

Where can you find it?

The moments of silence should be enjoyed.

They should be cherished.

It’s when thoughts happen.

Ideas are born.

Stresses fully realized.

A chance to hear your inner-self.

A time for devotions or meditation.

Silence is precious.  It’s so impossible, that when I get it, I rarely know what to do.  I need more of it.  It’s on my Christmas list.  It might be a few years down the road before it available.

When will you get a chance to get some quiet?  In the shower, after the kids fall asleep, or during that first sip of coffee in the morning.  Savor it.  Spend a minute or two doing nothing.  It is a need.  It’s a little bit of sanity when you don’t get much anymore.  Breath.

I hope you get a little more of silence this year.  Merry Christmas!  Comment, like, share, and subscribe.
