Sometimes it’s hard to get out.  If you can’t these ideas can be done after the kids are in bed.  And just because they aren’t expensive doesn’t mean you won’t have a get to enjoy yourselves.

So first step is to go to the dollar store for your supplies.

These first three ideas don’t require a lot of prep.  You can have them as a standby for a spoiled night when the babysitter calls off or you can’t get a reservation at the restaurant you wanted to go to.

  1. Strip Poker
  2. Home Mani/Pedi with Massage
  3. Dollar Store Movies

Strip poker might be a blast from the past.  You might want some get out the good underwear for this one.  You need a deck of cards and your competitive side.  If you don’t know how to play poker you can always play go fish.  Each time you win at a hand get your partner to take something off.

Home mani/pedis with a massage.  Your hands and feet get a lot of abuse.  They don’t always get the care that they need.  There doesn’t need to be any polish involved but filling nails and lotions can be a nice care thing.  There’s plenty of kits in the dollar store if you don’t have anything at home. Plus rubbing the palms and insoles can be very relaxing.

Netflix and chill.  How about those old movies you haven’t thought about since you were a kid?  Maybe your partner hasn’t seen one of them.  Go hit the dollar store for a few and lay down together to watch them.  You can laugh and reminisce.

Sometimes I miss having fun.  Being childlike sounds so ridiculous now that we have a child.  It helps keep you young and happy.

  1. Blanket Fort
  2. Laser Tag

Building a fort is something that must be done as a kid.  Break out the blankets and pillows and maybe even the Christmas lights.  If you build it in the living you can play in the morning too.  Watch a movie and sleep on the floor.

Turn on each other and get competitive.  Hit the college laser tag place and hunt each other.

Trying something new makes things exciting.  Different food or different places can be exciting.  Here are two different ways.

  1. Wegmans Dinner
  2. Get Lost

Wegmans has a ton of fantastic premade food.  You can take it home or your favorite hangout spot or eat there.  Try something new.

Getting lost isn’t normally a good thing.  Here’s a way to go somewhere new and not break the bank.  Hit the city bus together.  Go on one that isn’t a short loop.  Head somewhere you haven’t been yet.  Even if you grew up in a town you’re probably going to find somewhere you’ve never been.  Be careful though.  You don’t want to go too late or you might get stuck where you are and need to find a place to stay or an Uber to get home.

Have fun and remember the important part is spending time together not how much you spend.  What are you cheap date night ideas?
