You Can Be Book Series Review

Sharing is caring!

I was recently given the chance to review a new book series called You Can Be written by Sarah Joseph.  This series was written for kids from 3-7 years old so it sounded perfect for Aiden to read and learn from.  These books are built around teaching your child that they are amazing and can do it.

First of all these books are beautiful.  The illustrations are simple and so relatable for the age range.  Each page is a snippet of a moment in a child’s life when they might encounter a challenge.  And each word of encouragement helps your child face it.

I absolutely love them and recommend them.   Anything that celebrates positive attitudes and behavior is good in my book.  You can get your copy in either softcover or Kindle versions here.

These books are perfect to teach positive attitudes and good behavior.  Each book defines the good behavior and teaches through examples your child can relate to.  My child was immediately drawn in.

The pictures are very real.  He looked and couldn’t help touching my kindle while we read.

The books end encouragement to grow in that good behavior and questions to help your child process what they have just heard.

Sarah Joseph is an excellent writer. She write with rhymes which makes the stories almost musical. Aiden started memorizing the words as we read.

Being brave can be really hard to learn.  Sometimes I need the encouragement as much as Aiden does.

At school, in the hospital, swimming in the pool and so many other places can require a lot of being brave for your little.

You Can Be Brave: “I’m so glad I did not quit… It was scary at first but I knew I was brave and that I could do it!”

From the first line to the end Aiden was actively engaged.  He told me about things that he was scared of from the pictures he saw.  He even said he wants the training wheels off of his bike. We will see how that goes.

Kindness is deeply difficult for our littles.  They tend to be unwilling to share or be polite.  For Aiden sharing is difficult. One of his friends didn’t want to share with him and he reacted horribly.  Reading this book helped him understand that wasn’t being kind.

Being kind can be sharing or being polite.  Remembering to listen and opening the door for someone else.  Each example is a moment in your child’s day like the brave book.

You Can Be Kind Book Review

He told me how he felt about his friends when they aren’t kind to him. That it’s upsetting and that he feels hurt. We talked about how to be kind to them even when they might not be to him. And how to use kindness to make new friends.

You Can Be Kind: “Everyday there are people all around you who may need a bit of love.  The kindness you show by helping and sharing is something you should be proud of!”

He especially likes this last picture with the puppy in the little girl’s arms. He connected it to his own pet and how he can be kind to his cat.
