Letter C

I remember this set of x-rays that circulated on Facebook for a little while in the homeschooling groups.   It was the x-rays of the hands of a healthy 6-year-old compared to a healthy 12-year-old.  There’s so much cartilage in the hands of a 6-year-old that it’s no wonder why they have more trouble with fine motor skills like writing.  (https://blog.cincinnatichildrens.org/radiology/using-x-rays-to-evaluate-growth/) (http://preschoolpowolpackets.blogspot.com/2020/09/homeschool-preschool-prek-writing.html

If your child struggles with the quality and quantity of writing there’s a reason.  Remember that.  It comes with bones, gentle practice, and comes with time.  Don’t worry about it.  Everyone starts off slow.  So use the chunky markers.  Don’t get upset if they prefer their fist instead of the proper hand position.

Don’t do ten pages of copy.  Be reasonable and fun.

The letter C is the third letter of the alphabet.  Aiden picks cat, carrot, and caterpillar when he’s asked for a C word.

Short C sounds like ku

As a homeschooling mom, I know one of the homeschool essentials is a good-quality printer with cheap ink. Make sure you look at the cost of the ink before you buy. The printer price isn’t the price to worry about. We have an old one we bought about 10 years ago. Totally worth it. It doesn’t even have to have both print cartilages to print.
