Celebrate the 4th of July

Whether you’re hitting a festival or hanging out at home some things make July 4th memorable for your active little.  For us, we go out to the local fest on campus. It’s an all day event that has lots of fun for all ages. If you’re in the Central PA come check out our festival.

Central PA 4th Fest

We hit 4th Fest for our July 4th celebration.  It’s an all-day event with a race, parade, activities, food, and fireworks. Check out Central PA 4th Fest.

Schedule of events:

Kid ID

One thing that scares me more than anything is losing my child in a crowd.  Now that he doesn’t spend time in a stroller I have worry. He is the proud new owner of a temporary tattoo for any busy place.  With my name and phone number.

As a side note, I think the best thing you can ever teach your child is your phone number.  Area code included. If you ever get separated your child and get someone to call you.

Cash

I use credit for almost every purchase.  If you’re out, it’s always wise to have a least a little cash.  Parking is almost always cash. You might need food or water. Or you might just want to do a ride or an activity.  It just makes life a little easier.

A Extra Bag

One word: CANDY.  I know it’s a huge part of any happy childhood.  It’s happening if there’s a parade. It doesn’t mean you have to keep all of it or that you have to give your child all the candy.  It just makes it easier for them to gather it and not leave a bunch of stickiness in your back-pack or in the stroller.

Blanket

I know the chairs are probably more comfortable but if there are more two kids that’s a lot to drag with you.  A blanket is space for more than one and can double as warmth if it gets chilly for the fireworks.

Snacks

Snacks.  That should be a no brain but I’ve forgotten to grab something on the run out the door.  We love packed snack crackers and yogurt tubes. Nuts and dry fruit are really good too.

Water Bottles

Water is always overpriced.  One easy way to avoid that is to bring water bottles and a gallon or two to refill with in the car.

A Couple Small Toys

What do you plan to do when you got to the event and you’re early?  I always have a matchbox car or a small paw patrol puppy in my purse or bag.  It gives him something to do instead of running around.

Glow Sticks

I always have a flashlight but it’s good to a glow stick for him.  He likes having the light and I like being able to see him better. You can get all kinds of glow sticks likes necklaces and bracelets or wands or the big ones.

Safe Fireworks

Take this one with a grain of salt.  I would read the packaging before allowing your child to try things out.  Don’t pick something that they can actually hurt themselves with. I like party poppers and if they’re old enough sparklers.

Ear Muffs

You want some kind of ear protection.  It gets loud when the fireworks start. Sometimes I feel like adults could use ear protection.  Kid ears are so much more sensitive. Make the smart choice and get something to protect the little ears.
